Punta Palancar

Punta Palancar is a sandy to coral-reef site off the southern tip of Cozumel, Mexico. The dive typically starts from a calm surface and involves a gentle descent to shallow to mid-depth walls and small pelagic action around the reef edges. The topography features a sloping plateau that drops to deeper ledges, with plenty of coral heads and a mix of hard and soft corals. Expect a healthy Caribbean fish community including damselfish, parrotfish, angelfish, groupers, and moray eels, with occasional sightings of reef sharks in some conditions. Water is usually warm with clear visibility, commonly ranging from 15 to 30+ meters depending on water conditions. This site is accessible for experienced resort divers and newer divers alike when guided by local centers, and it offers a straightforward drift along the reef edge under calm seas. Access is convenient from nearby towns within a few minutes of splashing, reflecting its popularity in the Mundo Palancar/Punta Palancar area.
