Hillsboro Beach

Pompano Trench

Pompano Trench is a shallow-to-mid-depth coastal dive site in Florida's Atlantic waters. The trench runs along a drop-off that attracts typical warm-temperate reef life and presents a clear topography for drift or non-drift diving depending on currents. Divers commonly see a mix of small reef fishes, snappers, grunts, angelfish, and occasional tropical to warm-water species. The site offers straightforward entry from the beach or a boat drift along the edge, with visiblity often in the 10–30 meters range and water temperatures typical of the region. Access is easy from nearby towns, with Hillsboro Beach, Pompano Beach, and Lighthouse Point providing convenient launch points within a few kilometers. This is a local, moderate-site suitable for recreational divers with basic buoyancy skills.
