Mundo Palancar
Palancar Wall
Palancar Wall is a prominent Caribbean wall dive off Cozumel, characterized by a steep drop from shallow reef to deep blue. The site begins around a few meters of depth with vibrant first-shelf life then descends along vertical coral-covered faces to depths of around 20–30 meters, where a mosaic of hard corals, sponges and plate coral colonies sustain a rich fish life. Expect schooling tropical fish, angelfish, parrotfish and morays, with chances of reef sharks on deeper profiles or after recent currenys shifted water. Entry is typically from boats or shore dives depending on conditions, with calm seas offering comfortable conditions for experienced and beginner-friendly drift along the wall. Conditions vary with season; visibility is often good, and currents can be present, creating an enjoyable drift dive along the wall’s ledges with opportunities to spot large cup corals and lanternfish at dawn or dusk.
