Tioman

Mentawak

Mentawak is a local Tioman dive site aimed at reef-dedicated exploration around the eastern shores of Tioman Island. Accessible from nearby coastal villages, the site anchors on typical shallow reef topography with sandy patches nearby. Divers usually enter from a gentle shore approach or via a short boat hop, depending on conditions. The reef structure hosts a mix of hard corals, small reef fishes, and cruising species common to tropical Southeast Asian reefs. Visibility can vary with plankton and weather, and currents are usually mild, making it suitable for recreational divers with basic to intermediate training. Nearby reef sections and sea fans provide habitat for damselfish, tangs, clownfish, and occasional larger fish along the slope. The site is commonly paired with other Tioman reef dives and is popular for relaxed, scenic dives along a sheltered coastline.
