L’ile Bleue

L’ile bleue is a small offshore site best reached from the motus around Pihaena or Papetō’ai, with Moorea’s protected reefs within easy reach. The area features clear tropical waters, gentle to moderate currents, and soft sand and reef topography typical of the Society Islands. Divers can expect shallow to mid-depth dives with healthy coral growth, seabeds, and a variety of reef fish such as damselfish, wrasses, parrotfish, and occasional tropical species. The area provides calm conditions on benign days and a relaxed, beginner-friendly environment when conditions allow, making it suitable for introductory dives or drift experiences along sheltered reef slopes. Access is straightforward from nearby villages, with local operators offering guided dives to nearby lagoons and reefs.
