Karwela Wreck

Karwela Wreck is a historic wreck dive off the Maltese coast. The Karwela was a passenger ferry that sank in 1942 and now lies on the seabed, accessible in moderate depths typical of Maltese wreck sites. Divers can expect a structured hull with decks and internal spaces that may be explored by trained wreck divers with appropriate procedures. The site is typically visited in calm seas with clear visibility, and currents can occur depending on conditions. Surrounding offshore habitats feature typical Mediterranean-sea life; nearby hard corals, sponges and schools of small reef fish are common. Access is via local dive boats from ports and near coastal towns, with the wreck located a short distance offshore from Maltese harbours.
