Floriana
Ta Xbiex
Ta Xbiex is a small coastal site near the capital area of Valletta, commonly accessed from nearby towns of Floriana, Gżira and Msida. The dive environment is influenced by sheltered waters close to harbors, with typical Maltese coastal conditions. Expect shallow reef walls and sandy patches near jetties and breakwaters, with easy entry from the shoreline or boat drops. Visability can vary with seas and currents, usually ranging from calm to moderate. Common species in the Maltese region include groupers, barracuda, octopus, moray eels, breams and a variety of small reef fish, often around rubble and posidonia beds. The site is suited for beginner to intermediate divers seeking a straightforward local dive close to urban areas, and can be combined with a waterfront drift along the harbor fringe on calmer days.
