Saint Raphaël

Ile D'Or

Ile d’Or is a French offshore island in the Bay of Saint-Tropez area. The site is reached by boat from the mainland towns of Saint-Raphaël, Fréjus or Théoule-sur-Mer. It offers typical Mediterranean diving with rocky walls, swim-throughs and patches of sandy bottoms in shallow to moderate depths. Expect clear water and good visibility in calm conditions, with diverse Western Mediterranean fauna such as groupers, wrasse, damselfish and moray eels around rocky outcrops, plus occasional sightings of juvenile fish and schools near the island. Entry is usually from a small boat drop-off, with water between a few and a dozen or more meters depending on the chosen site around the island. The area is influenced by tidal currents and boat traffic, so divers should plan for a conservative dive profile and follow local guidelines.
