Lighthouse Point

Hillsboro Ledge

Hillsboro Ledge is a nearshore reef dive site off Hillsboro Beach. The site features a series of rocky ledges that slope from shallow crests into deeper, shaded gulleys and pockets. Entry is typically from a sandy shoreline or small boat ramp, with conditions best in calm seas and light winds. Depth generally ranges from shallow to moderate, with some sections reaching mid-20s meters on the outer ledges, offering scenic drop-offs and swim-throughs. Common Western Atlantic reef species include snappers, barracudas, angelfish, parrotfish, and a variety of grunts, along with spiny lobsters and moray eels. The site is accessible to experienced and newer divers with proper bouyancy and current awareness, and is often used for drift and exploration along the ledges when currents permit. Proximity to nearby towns like Deerfield Beach and Lighthouse Point provides convenient access for shore-based divers.
