Mundo Palancar

Columbia Reef

Columbia Reef is a vibrant Caribbean dive site known for its healthy coral formations and diverse reef life. Located off a sheltered coast, the site features a gentle sloping reef run with plenty of coral heads, ridges, and a mix of hard and soft corals. Depths commonly range from shallow zones around 6–12 meters down to about 20–25 meters, making it accessible for recreational divers and for those doing introductory reef dives. Expect encounters with parrotfish, angelfish, butterflyfish, groupers, and occasional rays or turtles, especially near the sandy patches and drop-offs. Currents are typically mild to moderate, so planning for a relaxed drift into the reef is common on optional drift dives. Access from nearby resorts and local dive centers is straightforward, with well-marked entry points and calm conditions on many days. This site is well-suited for a relaxed day of underwater sightseeing, macro opportunities around the coral heads, and general reef exploration.
