Chankanaab Bolones is a coastal dive site located near Playa del Carmen, featuring small collapsed coral bommies and sandy patches with gentle topography. The site is typically accessed from shallow conditions with a gentle descent to around 8–14 meters, exposing a mosaic of macroalgae-covered rocks, coral heads, and patch reefs. Visibility is often good, and currents are usually mild, making it suitable for recreational divers and those building buoyancy skills. Typical Western Caribbean life includes damselfish, parrotfish, grunts, moray eels, spotted drum, and occasional lobster. The Bolones offer opportunities to explore crevices and small overhangs while maintaining an easy, relaxed pace. Entry is from the shore or a nearby beach, with easy exit and a gradual slope to the reef edge.
