Nassau serves as a practical gateway to the Bahamas’ underwater world. While the city itself is primarily a travel hub, nearby coastal sites along New Providence offer sandy bottoms, patch reefs, and clear tropical water suitable for beginner to intermediate diving. Local dive centers provide courses, equipment rental, and boat trips to reefs and wrecks within a short boat ride from Nassau. Expect warm visibility, abundant tropical fish, and occasional bigger pelagics off the outer reefs. Freshwater options are not available in the city, so most training and dives occur in saltwater offshore areas.
