Witc Shoal

Witc Shoal is a shallow coastal dive site near Fortuna and the Charlotte Amalie area. The site typically features a gently sloping seabed with scattered rocky outcrops and patches of sandy bottom. Visibility is variable but often fair to good in calm conditions, and currents are usually mild, making it suitable for beginner to intermediate divers. The site is commonly explored at shallow depths with an emphasis on topography and ease of access from nearby shore or boat launches. Local marine life tends toward common Caribbean reef-associated species, such as small reef fish, damsels, tangs, and grunts, with occasional moray eels or lobster in crevices. As always, plan for the local weather and sea state, and follow safe buoyancy and entry practices when approaching the shoal’s edges.
