Sentier Sous Marin

Sentier sous-marin is a coastal Mediterranean dive site near Banyuls-sur-Mer and Cerbère, with access from the rocky coast. The site comprises a shallow to mid-depth slope and a gentle ridge that runs parallel to the coastline, offering a straightforward entry from the shore or from a small boat. Typical conditions are calm seas with moderate visibility; currents are usually mild and can pick up with sea state. The site hosts common Western Mediterranean fauna such as wrasses, damsels, groupers, moray eels, octopus, nudibranchs and schools of small fish near the rocky runs. Its proximity to Banyuls-sur-Mer, Cerbère and Portbou makes it a popular local dive for training and fun dives. Access is quick from nearby towns; divers often combine this site with a shore dive or a short zodiac ride from the coast. Accessibility and relative safety make it suitable for a wide range of experience levels, especially on calm days.
