Otter Cove is a shore-access dive site on California’s Monterey Bay, typically reached from the nearby towns of Pacific Grove or Monterey. The site features a sandy and rocky seabed with kelp beds in shallower sections and bluffs dropping toward deeper, exposed walls along the coast. Expect mild to moderate currents and water temperatures that vary seasonally; visibility is commonly good but can be dim in stronger currents. Common local fauna includes rockfishes, lingcod, guitarfish, kelp bass, and a variety of invertebrates, with sea otters often seen near the surface or swimming along the edge of kelp forests. Entry is straightforward from the beach or a short stake-line access, making it suitable for for on-site shore dives with basic to intermediate experience.
