Metridium Fields

Metridium Fields is a local California dive site near Monterey, known for its soft coral fields and sandy bottoms hosting an abundance of invertebrates and small fish. The site features a gently sloping seabed with scattered patches of tube anemones and seasonal macro life. Access is straightforward from nearby shores with typically calm conditions in good weather, making it suitable for shore and boat dives by local groups. Depths are shallow to moderate, with the most common depths around a few meters to the low tens, depending on current and entry point. Divers often explore the sandy flats and scattered structures, keeping in mind limited visibility at times and the possibility of surge near the shelf edge. The surrounding regions, including Monterey and Pacific Grove, offer diverse kelp habitats and typical Central California marine life.
