Maayafushi
Maaya Thila
Maaya Thila is a well-known reef dive site in the central Maldives. Located near Maayafushi, Halaveli, and Kandolhudhoo, it typically features a shallow, sloping outer reef that drops into deeper channels. The site is famous for its abundant fish life, including reef sharks, barracuda, surgeonfish, and napoleon wrasse, especially on open-water dives and at the thilaβs crest. Expect clear, warm tropical water with good visibility and a steady current that can offer drift diving opportunities for experienced divers. Macro life and colorful invertebrates also populate the reef, with healthy corals providing shelter for schooling fish. Access is straightforward from nearby guest islands, with calm surface conditions common during the day. This makes Maaya Thila a reliable option for a productive dive in the Maldivian atoll system.
