Hondarribia

Ibi

Ibi is a local dive site near the Basque coast, accessed from the towns of Hondarribia, Urrugne, and Ciboure within a short drive. The site offers straightforward entry and typical shallow coastal conditions common to the Bay of Biscay, with visibility mainly governed by sea state. Expect a rocky nearshore bottom with Mediterranean-like temperate species typical of northern Spain and southern Basque regions, including small groupers, wrasse, and moray eels, along with zodiac-like seabed contours. It’s best suited for recreational dives and skill maintenance; current and surge can occur with swell, so plan accordingly and dive with a buddy. The proximity to the coast makes it a practical option for a half-day dive from nearby towns.
