Hikkaduwa
Hikkaduwa Gala
Hikkaduwa Gala is a coastal Sri Lankan dive site near the town of Hikkaduwa. The area features shallow reefs and rocky substrates typical of the southwestern coast, with entry from a sandy shore and gentle to moderate currents depending on conditions. Expect clear turquoise water, generally calm visibility in fair weather, and a mix of hard and soft corals, small reef fish, and occasional juveniles. The site is suitable for recreational divers and those refining buoyancy skills; surface intervals offer local scenery and reef scenery along the approach. Nearby towns like Wewala and Kahawa provide access options and support with local dive centers offering guided trips and equipment rental. Water remains salt, and diving here is part of the broader reef ecosystems along the southwestern Sri Lankan coast.
