Almuñécar

Cala Iza

Cala Iza is a local Mediterranean dive spot near Almuñécar in southern Spain. The site features a shallow, rocky seabed with easy access for beginners and warm, clear water typical of the Andalusian coast. Depths are modest, making it suitable for introductory dives and training. Expect common Western Mediterranean reef life such as groupers, gilthead bream, moray eels, and small damselfish around rocky outcrops and seagrass patches. While not a famous bucket-list site, Cala Iza offers a relaxed shoreline dive with straightforward navigation and sinking mood of a sheltered cove. Access is convenient from nearby towns of Almuñécar and Nerja, each within a short drive, and several local dive centers operate boat and shore dives in the area.
