Breakwater Cove

Breakwater Cove is a sheltered, easy-access site off Monterey Bay, popular with local divers. The site features a gentle sandy bottom transitioning to rocky structures and a protected harbor area. Expect typically calm conditions with moderate visibility and mild currents, making it suitable for beginners and training dives as well as drift dives for experienced divers when conditions permit. Common underwater scenery includes kelp patches, rocky ledges, and a variety of small reef fish, wrasse, crabs and octopus around the kelp beds and crevices. The cove is often accessed from the nearby breakwater and shore entry is straightforward, with vehicles and facilities available in Monterey and nearby towns.
