Banc Des Pirogues

Banc des Pirogues is a shallow coastal site characterized by a gently sloping seabed with sandy patches and patches of seagrass. Located near Anoronjia, Ampasimena and Ambaro, access is straightforward from nearby towns. The site typically offers calm conditions with low to moderate currents and clear to mildly turbid water depending on tides. Expect a sandy bottom, occasional small rocky outcrops, and young reef habitats along the edge where macro life and small reef fish can be observed. This site is suitable for beginner to intermediate divers and for training, with entry from shore or a small boat. Marine life commonly includes wrasses, damselfish, goatfish, and occasional octopuses or moray eels in crevices.
