Vanuatu is a Pacific island country with diving mainly around its volcanic islands, combining sheltered lagoon areas and more exposed outer-coast sites. Most scuba diving is saltwater (South Pacific / Coral Sea) with tropical conditions: warm water, generally good visibility, and currents that can vary by site. Around Efate and the Port Vila area, divers typically find coral gardens and reef slopes suited to a range of experience levels, plus easy access for day trips. To the north, the Santo (Sanma) area is well known for wreck and reef diving, with many sites focused on offshore conditions where boat trips are common. Because diving is island-based, travel time between islands matters; planning around weather and sea state helps, especially if you’re aiming for outer-coast or deeper profile dives.
