Oman is a coastal country with diving concentrated along the Arabian Sea, the Gulf of Oman, and the Persian Gulf. Most visitors plan around Musandam (around Khasab), where sheltered bays, rocky bottoms, and occasional strong tidal flow can make for interesting drift conditions. Along the mainland, the Muscat area and parts of Al Batinah are typical access points for day trips, while Al Khiran is another commonly referenced coastal base. Water is generally warm, with conditions that can range from calm and clearer in protected spots to more variable visibility where currents and wind pick up. Marine life is often centered on reefs, rocky shorelines, and off-shore structures rather than large, crowded resort ecosystems. Overall diving relevance is solid for divers who prefer fewer crowds and don’t mind that conditions depend heavily on site and season.
