Mozambique offers scuba diving along the Indian Ocean and the Mozambique Channel, with access to warm, often clear coastal water and a mix of reef and shoreline sites. Most divers base themselves around the Inhambane area (including Jangamo) and further south near Ponta do Ouro and Malongane, where currents can be a factor and visibility may vary by season. You’ll typically find reefs, sandy slopes, and boat dives close to shore, with marine life shaped by local currents rather than “one single” reef system. Expect tropical conditions overall, with water temperatures commonly staying warm through much of the year, and plan your trip around the seasonality of wind, tides, and visibility. Inland diving is generally not a focus in Mozambique; most opportunities are ocean/sea diving from coastal launch points.
