Malta is a compact dive destination in the middle of the Mediterranean, with most diving based around the islands of Malta and Gozo. Conditions are often good for visibility and photography, and the water is typically clear over rocky areas, drop-offs, and sheltered bays. Typical sites include limestone formations, natural arches and tunnels, and wreck dives in accessible coastal areas. Gozo is known for its dramatic topography and sheltered underwater features, while Malta’s north and south coasts offer a mix of walls, reefs, and calm sheltered dives depending on wind and swell. The season is generally most comfortable in spring and autumn, while summer can be warmer and busier. Diving relevance is strongest along the coastlines; there are limited options away from the sea.
