Jordan’s main scuba diving is concentrated around the Gulf of Aqaba, accessed from the port city of Aqaba (and nearby areas such as Al Yamānīyah). This is saltwater diving with clear conditions on many days, warm water in season, and the kind of Red Sea topography divers look for: coastal reefs, drop-offs, and wrecks in some areas. Depths are typically reachable with recreational profiles, while stronger currents and deeper sites can make certain dives more demanding. Outside Aqaba, there is little to no established scuba diving compared with the Red Sea coast, so most trips focus on short transfers, local shore dives, and day boats from Aqaba, sometimes alongside dive trips that include offshore sites when conditions allow.
