Canada offers scuba diving across very different environments, from cold-water coastal sites to freshwater Great Lakes lakes and rivers. On the Pacific side, divers often find rocky shorelines, kelp forests, and strong currents around British Columbia; conditions can be cold, with visibility varying by season. Along the Atlantic, the North Atlantic coast and the Gulf of Saint Lawrence support wrecks, ledges, and offshore walls in colder water, with marine life typical of temperate ecosystems. Inland, the Great Lakes (Ontario, Huron, Superior) provide freshwater diving with clear stretches of water in some areas, plus schools of fish and seasonal changes; visibility and temperature can drop quickly. Canada is well suited to divers who enjoy cold-water skills, good buoyancy, and managing entry/exit on exposed coasts, with plenty of local dive centers for equipment support and site briefings.
