Chorafakia

Chorafakia is a village on the Akrotiri peninsula in western Crete, Greece. It’s not a coastal city with a major diving scene, but it provides access to nearby dive centers and reef sites along the northwest coast of Crete and the surrounding Aegean Sea. Divers visiting the area typically base themselves in larger hubs on Crete for day trips to local reefs, walls, and wrecks, with conditions varying seasonally. The wider region offers a mix of sheltered coves and deeper drop-offs, but there aren’t prominent, world-class dive sites within immediate proximity of Chorafakia itself. Nearby water bodies are saltwater seas with typical Cretan clarity and Mediterranean marine life, including Mediterranean species and reef fish encountered on coastal dives.
