Mera

Mera is a coastal dive site near the town of Minamiizu on the Izu Peninsula. Access is straightforward from local centers and guesthouses along the coast. The site comprises a gently sloping rocky to sandy bottom with scattered boulders that create small overhangs and crevices. Typical conditions are calm sea state with clear visibility in good weather. Marine life in this area often includes wrasses, damselfish, gobies, octopus, and occasional eels, with seasonal visits by larger pelagics possible on clearer days. The dive is suitable for beginner to intermediate divers, depending on chosen depth and current, and can be paired with shore entries or short boat trips from nearby ports. Nearby towns such as Matsuzaki are within easy reach for divers planning multi-dive days or additional local exploration.
