House Reef

HOUSE REEF is a shallow, beginner-friendly site located off the coast near Lagoa and Ponta Delgada on the island of São Miguel. The site typically features a gradual sandy to rocky bottom with a sheltered reef edge that often hosts small fish, wrasses, damselfish, and occasional octopus or small eels. Entry is straightforward from the beach or a short shore dive, with calm conditions common in sheltered bays. Depths are generally shallow, making it suitable for new divers, training dives, and snorkelers as well. Visibility varies with sea state but can be good in calm seas. As with most house reefs, local currents are usually mild, and divers should follow standard buoyancy and marine life respect guidelines.
