Cala Grande

Cala Grande is a coastal Mediterranean site near Portovenere, Le Grazie and Lerici in Liguria. The dive is typically accessed from the rocky shore and involves a shallow entry with easy to moderate depth progression along a sloping seabed. Expect clear blue water, generally calm conditions in good weather, and a backdrop of rocky reef habitat typical of this stretch of the Ligurian coast. Divers often explore sheltered ledges and small crevices that host common Mediterranean species such as grouped fish, wrasses, bass, moray eels, and octopus, with vibrant colo­rations from sponges and gorgonians on the rocky outcrops. The site is suitable for recreational divers with basic buoyancy control; current is usually mild but can increase with tidal exchange. Access is straightforward from nearby towns within a short drive or boat ride, making Cala Grande a convenient option for a mixed group.
