Scuba diving in Ukraine is mostly about the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov coastline, with some freshwater options in lakes and reservoirs. Around Crimea and along the southern ports (including areas near Sevastopol and Sudak), divers typically find cold-temperate water, changing visibility, and a mix of natural hard bottoms, coastal life, and occasional wreck or man-made structures. Conditions depend strongly on season and weather: summer brings warmer water but also more variability in visibility, while colder months can mean lower temperatures and calmer surface conditions in some areas. In freshwater (for example lakes in the Volyn and Crimea regions, such as Lake Kachyk, the Chernorechenskoe reservoir, or Lake Dzharylgach), diving is calmer and simpler logistically, but visibility and water temperatures vary a lot by season.
