Israel’s scuba diving is mainly coastal: warm Gulf of Aqaba diving around Eilat and more seasonal, cooler conditions on the Mediterranean coast near Acre and Nahariyya. In Eilat, divers typically find clear, offshore-leaning sites with coral growth, rocky walls, and wrecks close to popular entry points, with water temperatures that are generally comfortable for much of the year. The Gulf of Aqaba is also well known for year-round visibility when conditions are calm. On the Mediterranean side, diving tends to be more about temperate reefs, local species, and sheltered conditions depending on season, rather than consistently warm, tropical conditions. For trip planning, expect most organized diving to be based in the Eilat area, with fewer options along the northern coast and shorter seasonality shifts.
