Ghent is a historic inland city in Belgium, located along the river Scheldt. It is not a coastal diving hub, and diving activity in the city itself is limited. Nearby diving access is primarily through day trips from coastal centers on the Belgian coast and the North Sea, with a couple of local dive centers offering entry-level courses, equipment rental, and nearby freshwater training options in the region. For divers, Ghent works best as a cultural base with easy rail connections to both the coast (to dive centers and shore dives) and to freshwater training sites in the broader region.
