Zanzibar City

Zanzibar City sits on Unguja Island as the main urban hub of the Zanzibar archipelago. While the city itself is not a classic coastal diving town, the region offers drift dives, reef sites, and nearshore habitats within easy reach by boat from the wider Zanzibar coast. Local dive centers focus on guided reef dives, introductory and certification courses, and equipment rentals, with conditions generally warm tropical water, moderate currents, and clear visibility at many sites. For divers, it serves as a practical gateway to the surrounding dive sites around Unguja and nearby Pemba, as well as freshwater alternatives on the island’s inland pockets nearby, should the quest be for practice or education.
