Porto Santo

Porto Santo is the small, sun-exposed island of Portugal in the Madeira archipelago, reached by short flights or ferries from Madeira. Diving here is mostly saltwater and focused on reef and rock areas around the island, with conditions that can vary with weather and currents. Expect a mix of clear-water visibility on calmer days and more dynamic water on windy periods. Sites are typically well suited to recreational divers, with many dives starting from local boat operators based on the island’s main resort area. Marine life is usually the kind you’d associate with the Macaronesian islands: reef fish, octopus, and other common temperate-to-subtropical species.
