Tairua

Tairua is a coastal town in the Waikato region of New Zealand, facing the South Pacific. It’s a popular access point for freshwater and coastal exploration in the wider Coromandel area, with nearby dive sites along the eastern shoreline. The town itself has very limited dive infrastructure, and most diving activity in the area centers on nearby wrecks, reefs, and kelp forest sites reachable by short boat or shore trips from the broader Coromandel coast. With a handful of local operators within easy reach, divers commonly use Tairua as a starting point for day trips to nearby dive sites and for general coastal recreation.
