Christchurch

Christchurch is a city on the South Island of New Zealand. It sits inland from the eastern coast and is more known as a cultural and gateway city than a diving destination. Nearby freshwater options include local rivers and quarries in the broader Canterbury region, but the city itself has limited dive access. The four dive centers in the area provide training, equipment rental, and local knowledge for trips to coastal dive sites around Canterbury and the Canterbury Bight, as well as day trips toward the Akaroa region and offshore reefs. Visitors typically base themselves here for adjacent coastal adventures, then travel to reachable dive sites along the coast.
