North Nilandhe Atoll

The North Nilandhe Atoll region covers a portion of the Maldives archipelago in the Laccadive Sea, within the Indian Ocean. The atoll environment typically features clear tropical waters, reef flats, and channels that attract a variety of marine life. Dives are buoyant, drift-friendly in deeper channels, and sheltered in shallow lagoons, with visibility generally good and water temperatures year-round. This region forms part of the central Maldive atolls where access is primarily via local dhoni or domestic flights to Malé followed by speedboat transfers. Dive sites cluster around the atoll’s reefs and lagoons, including walls, pinnacles, and drift dives common to Maldivian atolls. Expect reef fishes, soft corals, and occasional larger species depending on the site. The area is suitable for recreational diving with a mix of shallow swim-throughs and deeper channels, best experienced with local operators for current and safety guidance.
