Owase

Owase is a coastal city in Mie Prefecture, Japan, serving primarily as a gateway to nearby coastal dive sites along the Kii Peninsula and the Philippine Sea. With a couple of local dive centers, divers typically base themselves here for access to regional reefs, small wrecks, and drift dives popular in the area, as well as shore dives from nearby beaches. The area offers calm, temperate waters and reasonable visibility in season, and conditions vary with tides and currents. For freshwater diving or more extensive wreck exploration, divers may travel to other parts of Japan, as Owase itself has limited local diving beyond entry-level and guided trips.
