Sardinia

Sardinia is a Mediterranean scuba region with diving accessed mainly from the Tyrrhenian Sea on the west and northwest, plus additional sites around the island depending on where you base yourself. Expect rocky bottoms, ledges and walls, and sheltered coves alongside more exposed areas where conditions can shift with wind. Visibility is often good in settled weather, while colder seasons can bring lower temperatures and more variability. Common dive targets include reefs with fish life, occasional invertebrates such as octopus and nudibranchs, and sites featuring interesting geology. Popular bases include the Carloforte area and La Marmorata near the southern-western side, and Santa Teresa Gallura in the north for boat trips to offshore rocky grounds. Dive centers typically offer both shore and boat dives for recreational levels, with deeper or current-prone sites available for more experienced divers.
