With a couple of local dive centers and limited on-site diving options, most divers come for entry-level courses, coastal boat trips to nearby reefs and wrecks further afield, and practical access to the region’s mix of saltwater diving along the French and Belgian littorals. The nearby freshwater Ieperlee provides occasional inland training opportunities, but there is no significant dive site within the city itself. In essence, Dunkerque functions as a practical jump-off point for divers exploring the northern coast and nearby offshore sites.
