Ss Conch Oil Tanker

SS Conch Oil Tanker is a coastal wreck dive along Sri Lanka’s southwestern coast. The site typically sits in shallow to mid-depth water, with the wreck resting on a sandy seabed. Access is straightforward from local shore or boat operators in the Mirissa–Galle area, and conditions are generally calmest in calmer months. The wreck offers a straightforward orientation for trained wreck divers, with exposed hull structure and possible openings that allow a look into holds and cargo bays. Typical coastal marine life around the wreck includes common reef fish, small snappers, groupers, moray eels, and wandering reef invertebrates, with occasional larger pelagic visitors reported outside the immediate vicinity. Depths commonly range from a few to several tens of meters depending on tides and seabed slope, and current can be mild to moderate. This site is suited to certified divers with wreck experience and local dive-center guidance. Nearby towns such as Madampagama, Akurala, and Urawatte serve as practical access points for day trips and boat trips to the site.
