Ambaro
Sakatia
Sakatia is a coastal dive site off the northwest coast of Madagascar, near Nosy Somba and the island of Sakatia. The site is commonly accessed from nearby villages and coastal towns, with divers entering from calm, shallow waters and gradually dropping to modest depths. Expect typical reef topography with coral gardens, outer reef slopes, and small sandy patches. The area around Sakatia hosts a variety of tropical reef life including colorful damselfishes, parrotfishes, angelfish, and occasional larger reef species; sea fans and soft corals add color to the reef walls. Currents are generally mild but can pick up on deeper sections, so standard basic to intermediate buoyancy and drift awareness are advisable. The nearby towns and local boat operators provide relatively easy access from the shore or a short boat ride, with multiple nearby dive centers offering guided trips.
