Rutaki
Rutaki Drop Off
Rutaki Drop Off is a shallow-to-moderate depth reef wall site located close to the island’s western coast. The topography features a gentle slope that drops to a vertical wall, with overhangs and pockets that host small caverns. Entry is typically from a sandy bottom and can be accessed from nearby shore/beach launches or local boat drops. Expect clear tropical water with good visibility, and a calm, predictable current profile suitable for recreational and entry-level wall diving. Common reef species include cheerful damselfish, butterflyfish, parrotfish,, and frequent sightings of small schools of fusiliers; larger predators are less common in this sheltered area. The site is well-suited for relaxed photography and macro encounters among corals and gorgonians. Access is straightforward from nearby towns, with Rutaki Drop Off forming part of a cluster of local dive sites within easy reach for day trips.
