Wewala
Rangoon
Rangoon is a coastal dive site in the local area, suitable for shore dives from nearby towns. The site sits in shallow to moderate depths with easy access from the shoreline, making it a practical choice for beginners and recreational divers. Expect typical tropical Indo-Pacific coastal conditions with sandy to rocky bottoms and mild to moderate current on certain tides. Marine life commonly includes small reef fishes, damselfish and snappers, with occasional juveniles and invertebrates along the structure. The site’s proximity to Wewala and Hikkaduwa provides convenient access from nearby towns, while Kahawa is a bit farther for a longer drive. Visibility is generally fair to good and conditions are best in calm weather. Always dive within training limits and local guidelines, especially if currents are present.
