La Maddalena
Pilastrino
Pilastrino is a coastal dive site located near Lu Palau/Palau, typically reached by short boat or shore entry from the Sardinian coastline. The site is characterized by rocky subtidal terrain with scattered pillars and swim-throughs formed by ancient or natural rock structures. Expect Mediterranean conditions with moderate to good visibility and a generally calm environment in sheltered bays; currents are usually mild. The underwater topography offers vertical drops and crevices that harbor common Western Mediterranean species such as groupers, brown meagers, moray eels, dentex, and parrotfish, along with posidonia meadows nearby. Entry and exit are straightforward from nearby shorelines or boat ramps, making Pilastrino a practical option for intermediate divers exploring the Maddalena archipelago area.
