P51 &Quot;Mustang&Quot;, Wreck
P51 "Mustang", wreck is a historic World War II aircraft wreck site located in coastal waters near Ajaccio, Corsica. The wreck lies on a sandy to rocky seabed at modest depths typical for recreational diving in this area. Access is usually via boat from Ajaccio or nearby ports, with shore options limited. Dives typically follow the wreck’s silhouette with opportunities to observe intact structural elements and coralligenous growth along the hull. The site is reached by descent around the wreck’s area, with moderate currents common in the region depending on conditions. Marine life around Corsican wrecks includes typical Mediterranean species such as groupers, damselfish, juvenile fishes, moray eels, octopus and hermit crabs; the surrounding habitat supports a variety of soft and hard corals and sponges. The wreck offers a straightforward drift-friendly profile around its remains, suitable for certified divers with wreck experience and buoyancy control. Nearby dive centers in Ajaccio and Grosseto-Prugna provide access and guided dives.
