Olowalu
Olowalu Reef
Olowalu Reef is a shallow coastal site on Maui’s west coast, best known for clear conditions and abundant macro life. Typical depths range from around 6 to 20 meters, with accessible entry from the beach or a small boat drop. The reef structure features a mix of lava rock breaks and sandy patches, hosting a variety of reef fish, wrasse, anemones, and occasional sea turtles. The calm, nutrient-rich waters often deliver good visibility and easy current for relaxed drift dives along the slope. This site suits beginner to intermediate divers and is popular for training and leisurely underwater exploration near Lahaina and Maʻalaea, with nearby towns offering shops and shore access.
